Angella graduated from Portland’s East West College of Massage in June 2005. She practices Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports and Pregnancy massage with Thai massage influences. Her practice consists of a wide range of clients of varying ages, occupations and health conditions. Many of her clients are elite and recreational athletes including 3 Olympic athletes. Other clients include those suffering from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression and anxiety.
"I believe that not only does every person deserve massage, but they need it.Massage can feel luxurious, but it is not a luxury. It is necessary for optimal health."
Angella's philosophy is to work slowly and gently and proceed only when the client is comfortable. She believes the key to a good massage is to listen to the client and address what they want, need and expect from their session.Communication is essential before, during and after a massage.
Angella moved to Portland in 2002 after a two year trip around the world. She had been living and working in San Francisco, CA and set out to find her life’s inspiration (which was not, incidentally in a cubicle.)She found massage nearly by accident, but has never looked back and has become a skilled and talented therapist.
Liorah Riutzel, LMT Lic #18292
Liorah has always been a student of how the body speaks its intentions to us. Her interest in healing and bodywork led her to Portland's East West College of Massage where she recently graduated this last March. The formal education fine tuned Liorah's intuitive desire to experience and understand the many ways that touch can be therapeutic and life changing. Her practice incorporates a variety of modalities that enable her to tailor a unique experience to the clients need on an ongoing basis; as your body heals the work adapts. She pulls from experience in both the Western and Eastern modalities to balance the anatomic and energetic models. Liorah practices Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Shiatsu massage.
Liorah believes that massage can be a gateway to healing that is often overlooked. In the hands of an attentive, intentional therapist a person has the space to release and define a new relationship with the body. Liorah's belief is that when old pains and minor aches are transformed there is more opportunity for interconnectedness and spontaneity in ones life. Whether someone is looking to enhance their athletic performance or just relax, massage can identify old patterns that unconsciously hold us back from our truest form.
Liorah's own relationship with healing and bodywork began to gain consciousness as her body went through multiple injuries. As a survivor of trauma and personal loss she's witnessed how grief and emotional pain can reside in our bodies but was at first only aware of how these "injuries" inconvenienced her competitive athletics. Gradually she learned to see the wisdom and grace that our bodies hold and how to work with the messages that our tissues communicate as aches, pains, and chronic injuries. Her desire to get to the root of your story will help you creating lasting positive change.
